Within this strategy, incentives and rewards are given to workers to motivate them to work harder and longer hours and increase the productivity in the company. Incentives are given in terms of cash, bonuses or another kind of compensation. The other kind of the pay-for-achievement plan is calledPay-for-Performance Plans. Here the only thing rewarded to employees is recognition is based on their performance. This strategy doesn't give any type of awards. The very first version of thepay-for-achievement plan was set in England. A group of gifted people have come together and formed theTime Management Society. They decided to improve the productivity of these people by paying them for their accomplishments. The history of the program is not too clear, but there are evidences which support its effect. For instance, the history of the Industrial Revolution from 1830 to 1847, reveals a huge gain in the growth of the employees and a rise in the price of the merchandise. Additionally, the rise in the workforce during the Second World War is just another evidence of the role of the plan. Every one of these cases prove that employers have profited from pay-for-achievement programs, especially those that were initiated during the Second World War. In other words, the strategy is working. Employees working for high-tech businesses have their tasks simplified and the firms also have lower prices. They help to increase the quality of work and the efficiency of the business. There is not any doubt that there are situations which can be lowered or altered, but the degree of productivity in many companies has been improved to some extent with the support of the strategy. And all these advantages can be credited to the plan.
